GFRIEND will release their special album ‘Season of Memories’ on January 13.
Since their debut on January 16, 2015, GFRIEND (Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, Umji) have established their own concept of ‘powerful innocence’ with their innocent charm and powerful choreography, and have received love from both fans and the public with their passionate yet dreamy music. Their mega hit songs such as ‘Glass Bead’, ‘Me Gustas Tu’, ‘Rough’, and ‘MAGO’ are embroidering a page in our memories.
In January 2025, GFRIEND returned to their fans with their unchanging hearts and music, ‘Rough’. This special album was made possible by the wishes of the six members who wanted to give their fans precious memories in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary. Through ‘Season of Memories’, they sincerely convey their feelings that GFRIEND’s story has no end and that they will be together forever in our affectionate seasons, beyond the present and the future.
The title song that will make you feel overwhelmed the moment you hear it, condensing GFRIEND’s unique emotions
The title song ‘Season of Memories’, which was pre-released ahead of the special album release, condenses the unique emotions that come to mind when you think of ‘GFRIEND’. The overwhelming melody, exciting development, and beautiful, lyrical lyrics immediately capture your ears and lead us into memories of those times.
To create a song befitting their 10th anniversary, producers Noh Joo-hwan and Lee Won-jong, who worked together on ‘Time for the moon night’, ‘Sunrise’, and ‘Crossroads’, have teamed up for the first time in a long time. Shintaro Yasuda, who participated as a producer on Ariana Grande’s album, joined to add freshness and enhance the perfection.
The synergy between performance and music cannot be overlooked. The choreography for ‘Season of Memories’ perfectly utilizes GFRIEND’s ability as a ‘leader of sharp dance moves’ with its constantly changing lines and refreshingly stretched movements. In addition, the ending of ‘Rough’ and the clock hand pose include homages to previous works, stimulating nostalgia in K-pop fandom.
In the music video for ‘Season of Memories,’ the members move between train cars toward each other. The train they ride is filled with objects related to their past songs, such as the clock hands from ‘Rough’ and the teddy bear from ‘NAVILLERA.’ Dynamic animation is added to express the passage of time over 10 years. When they reach the last car of the train and there is no more way to go, the intersections merge into one and the six members gather in one place. The members dance under the fluttering flower petals and sing to the countless lights shining on them, deeply moving the viewers.[1]
